Instructions for Medicare-Eligible Employees Transitioning to ICHRA Coverage
If your company is moving from group health insurance to an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) and you are Medicare-eligible, you will need to enroll in Medicare Part A & B to take full advantage of the reimbursement benefit.
Medicare Selection in the SureCo Platform
During your enrollment process within the SureCo platform, you will see Medicare automatically selected on the "Shopping Group" page.
If you are the only individual being covered, simply click Save and Continue.
Then, proceed to the Finish & Confirm section to complete your election.
Important:
Selecting Medicare on the SureCo platform does not enroll you in Medicare.
You must enroll directly through the Social Security Administration or Medicare.gov.
This selection only indicates that you would like to apply your employer’s ICHRA contribution toward your Medicare-related premiums. Eligible expenses include:
Medicare Part B
Medicare Part D
A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plan
Any associated Medicare prescription drug plans
Your employer will reimburse these costs up to your maximum ICHRA monthly contribution amount.
You will receive Next Steps instructions emailed to your address on file along with any deadline information for getting your documents sent over to SureCo for verification.
After You Enroll in Medicare
Once you are officially enrolled in Medicare (and any supplement, if applicable), you must provide proof of enrollment to receive reimbursement:
You can upload your invoices directly through your SureCo account, or
Email the documents to: employee.experience@SureCo.com
Your employer may have a deadline to submit those documents. Please feel free to reach out to the employee experience team if you need to know how much time you have to submit those supporting documents.
Need Help?
Most employers provide Medicare support either through their benefits broker or SureCo’s Medicare partner.
